Discover a beautiful historical region.
The Château de Mazelières is situated in the region called “Pays d’Albret”, rich in history. This place, which reminds of Gascony, is still very quiet. In between the Landes and the Gers, the smell of the pine trees mingle with the fragrances of Armagnac. The hills, softer than in the North of the department, and the castles, are reminders of the rides of king Henry IV who came that route and loved this area. The city of Nérac which is its small capital, is a great starting point to explore the beautiful countryside. The small and wide river Baïse nicely crosses the city. The pays of Albret has a definitive happy charm that one would call “gascon”.
“A blessed little corner of south-west France made up of gently rolling hills, fields of corn and sunflowers, winding roads empty of cars and pretty little towns and villages, where people always have time to talk to you. It’s like an unspoilt Tuscany or Provence, and I’d better shut up now or I’ll be responsible for spoiling it.” Sam Taylor. The Observer, 21/01/01
