In Gascogne, one would say “Ba-less-tay”. This vineyard covers an area of 20 hectares. It lays on a calcareous headland, an elegant-shaped hill offering a pleasant landscape. Its soil is also rich in silt and clay. The split of vine type is :
- Merlot, representing 56% of the vine
- 23% of Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% of Cabernet Franc
- Average age of the vine of 38 years
The dry summers, cooled by blessed light rains in September, are ideal to provide a specific note to the nectar of this small vineyard. It has received a Gold Medal at the General Agricultural Competition in Paris, for its 1988 vintage. It has received a Silver Medal in 2008 at the Competition of the Wine Exhibition of Macon, for its 2006 vintage.
